A man has been charged to court accused of breaching a Community Protection Notice in Terrington St John.
Community Protection Notices (CPNs) are official notices handed out to people who consistently cause anti-social behaviour. Breaching one of these notices is a criminal offence so has the power of arrest. We use a staged approach to deal with anti-social behaviour and these notices are given out after people have had an official warning as well as signposting to lots of help and support. Continuous breaches of a CPN can eventually lead to a Criminal Behaviour Order which is a civil order that makes certain activities criminal.
In this case the CPN for this person specifies actions including not consuming or carrying an open container of alcohol in a specific area and not being drunk in the same area.
A man in his 70s was arrested on 2 June 2026 in Terrington St John on suspicion of breaching a CPN. He was taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Subsequently, William Griffiths, 75, of Westfields, Tilney St Lawrence has been charged with breaching a CPN. He has been bailed to appear at King’s Lynn Magistrates Court on 30 June 2026.
