Man appears in court charged with rape and sexual offences

A man has today (Monday 8 June 2026) appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court charged with rape and sexual offences.
Madalin Ilinca, aged 34, of Suffolk Place, Great Yarmouth, was charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
The charges come after two teenage girls reported they had been raped on Great Yarmouth’s South Beach on Saturday 16 May 2026.
At today’s hearing a plea and trial preparation hearing was set for Monday 6 July 2026 at Norwich Crown Court.
The defendant, a Romanian national, has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
