A man has been charged with rape and sexual offences after he was stopped at the port of Dover re-entering the UK.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual offences following reports two teenage girls had been raped on Great Yarmouth's South Beach on Saturday 16 May 2026.
He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Madalin Ilinca, a Romanian national, of Stafford Road, Great Yarmouth was today, Sunday 7 June 2026, subsequently charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.
The 34-year-old is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning, Monday 8 June 2026.
Another male, aged in his 30s who was arrested on suspicion of rape in Northamptonshire on Sunday May 17 2026 in connection with the same incident, remains on police bail until 10 August 2026 while inquiries continue.
