A man who was arrested at the weekend for multiple shop thefts has been sentenced.
Christopher Stevenson, 32, of no fixed address appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday 2 February, after pleading guilty to 10 counts of theft from shop, seven counts of breaching a criminal behaviour order and a public order offence.
The shop thefts took place between 21 December 2025 and 31 January 2026.
Stevenson stole items such as chocolate, coffee, meat and vinyl records, from numerous shops across the city on Dereham Road, Hall Road, St Stephen’s Street, Chantry Road and Unthank Road.
Officers were conducting patrols around Dereham Road on Saturday 31 January, following recent reports of shop theft in the area.
During the patrols officers spotted Stevenson on Douro Place and detained him.
Following a search, they found a bag full of Ferrero Rochers and household items in his possession that had been stolen from a shop on Dereham Road shortly before.
He was arrested for multiple shops thefts and breach of Criminal Behaviour Orders and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre where he was later charged.
In February 2025, Stevenson was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which banned him from entering several shops, including Co-op stores across Norfolk for three years. These thefts were in breach of his CBO.
Stevenson was sentenced to 12-months in prison.
