Road safety
Issued 12 April 2025
We have conducted speed checks in hotspot locations across the district and offered safety education or Traffic Offence Reports to those caught speeding
Road operations have taken place across South Norfolk to target offences made while driving, such as one at the Norfolk Showground on 4 June. We checked 128 vehicles overall, and only 15 were fully in the clear with no offences. Also, five vehicles were seized and two drivers were arrested — one for drug driving, and another who was disqualified, uninsured, and using a fake licence.
A quad bike causing ASB was seized in Cringleford, and two vehicles have been seized by the local policing team in and around Diss for various offences following issues raised by the local residents.
The operation octance car was at the Royal Norfolk Show and Ink and Engines Fest, informing visitors on how they can modify their vehicles within the confines of the law, which helps to reduce overall ASB.
In Harleston, four section 59 warnings for moped ASB have been given out, and targeted patrols continue to tackle the issue.
Proactive arrests for drink and drug drivers have been made by officers when on patrols.
We continue to enforce the Public Space Protection Order where possible and engage positively with legitimate car meets with the use of the Op Octane vehicle.
