Our aim is to provide a truly local policing service – communities working together with officers and partner agencies, to identify and deal with issues that matter most to them. Responding to and working closely with our communities solves problems, reduces crime and the fear of crime, and helps build trust and confidence in our service. Our approach is shaped by our vision to deliver exceptional policing for the people of Norfolk, by protecting communities, delivering exceptional services, and building and sustaining trust.
We work with the community and local partners, as well as looking at our own data to come up with priorities that we will have for Dereham for the next three months:
Tackling rural crime and antisocial behaviour across Dereham
Issued 02 February 2026
Suspected shoplifter arrested and charged in Dereham – he’s been bailed with conditions not to enter Dereham for any reason until the court date in June.
Alcohol taken from various street drinkers in and around the town centre as per the new PSPO.
One driver issued with a ticket for not MOT in Dereham.
Visit to Hockering Primary.
Patrols of St Nicholas Church Dereham after reports of anti-social behaviour in the church entrance.
Across Dereham we’ve taken two recent closure orders to the courts after reports of antisocial behaviour. These cases are worked on by local officers and collect lots of evidence of ASB to show why we think these addresses should be closed down.
Villages around the town have been visited by local beat managers and they’ve been focussing on crime prevention and target hardening for rural businesses.

We work with the community and local partners, as well as looking at our own data to come up with the priority that we will have for Dereham for the next three months:
Tackling youth and vehicle related anti-social behaviour
Tackling rural and acquisitive crime
Issued 01 May 2026
We've been continuing to tackle anti-social behaviour in the town centre in particular. A Criminal Behaviour Order has been issued to one man banning him from Dereham for two years after persistent issues.
We carry out regular patrols around the Market Place, Nelson Place and Church Street - especially at school times and in the evenings.
