Abnormal loads must not be moved during the following peak periods:
Movements in relation to the Sizewell Project must avoid Monday to Friday 7.30am to 9am and 4.30pm to 6pm, as well as bank holiday weekends, or when a major event has been planned.
Movements are not allowed to take place during the hours of darkness, with the exception of:
These include width, weight and length restrictions and require the express written permission of the Abnormal Loads Officer.
No more than two loads may travel together.
Self-escorting vehicles and drivers should comply with HA Codes of Practice: Lighting and Marking for Abnormal Load Self escorting vehicles incorporating operating guidance.
A dispensation is a permission for an abnormal load to travel without having to notify us each time.
General and annual dispensations are valid from 1 January (or date of issue) to 31 December each year. Applications will be dealt with on an individual basis and responded to at that time. You can request a dispensation by contacting us using the details below:

We will provide a police escort when we think we need to because of the size of the load or other unusual circumstances. This usually means loads that need a VR1 form or a Vehicle Special Order.
If you need a police escort you must request this and give us at least five working days’ notice. We will charge for this service.
