Before applying, I was a manager of two betting shops and managed 11 members of staff. I wanted to change career and do something to be proud of, as well as have my daughter/family be proud of me too, and as well as challenge myself with something meaningful.
How are you finding the training?
It is difficult finding a balance with my young family life. There's a lot of education and workload, such a learning definitions, polishing boots, preparing for assignment, revising for example, doing practice tests...
The team though have become more of a family and we support each other. The tutors make the lessons as educational and as fun as they can with support for us all. The scenarios we get put in are a real eye opener and great training method.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining the police?
It is very tough during training, but it is very rewarding and I cannot wait to get out and start the job.
What are you looking forward to/ambitions?
I'm looking forward to helping the public and finding my next path within the Police. I am excited to see what different routes there are and what I find the most interesting. Up to this point, I think I am most excited about counter terrorism.

Before applying I was a Locality Designer with Norfolk County Council. I joined the police because I wanted to have a career unlike no other, one where every day would be different, that I could always learn and be part of a great team. Currently, I am on week 9 of the PCDA programme.
How are you finding the training?
The biggest challenge for me initially was taking in all of the information given to us, the way to do it is to soak it all up and develop your own strategy to deal with it. The highlight of the course so far has been the Skills development exercises and the personal safety training because they are both fun and highlight key areas.
I definitely appreciate the police a lot more now given the sheer amount of information that I have been given and that the tutors know. Additionally, the training that is received is of the best quality and ensures that you have a great level of knowledge and skills for when you are out there.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining the police?
I would tell them to go for it, you’ll be working with some of the best tutors that there is. it is one of the best decisions that I have made. I may only be part way through the training but already feel like part of a family.
What are you looking forward to/ambitions?
I am looking forward to the passing out at the end of training and then going into the real world of policing where I will learn even more and, in the years, following graduate with a degree.
