If you've been involved in a road traffic incident, or think you might have witnessed an offence on the roads, find out how to report it using our simple online tool. Just answer the quick questions below to make sure we give you the right advice and gather all of the relevant details.
Report a road traffic incident with video evidence
Thank you. If you were involved in a collision as a driver or rider you must personally report the incident yourself to police as soon as possible and, in any case, within 24 hours of the collision. No one else can do this for you.
See the Road Traffic Act 1988, Section 170 for further details.
Please provide as many details as you can about the incident.
You can report it:
Please have the following details available if possible:
Independent witnesses
An independent witness must be someone who witnessed the incident but who is wholly unrelated to the incident and to anyone involved.
Guidance on evidence
To be accepted in court evidence must:
Video footage may be shared with the other involved parties.
It's more likely we'll be able to take action if the registration number of the offending vehicle(s) is visible in the evidence.
Please note: if your evidence shows you committing an offence, as well as the offender, you may also be prosecuted.
We will review what you send us and assess whether we can take any action. If we haven't contacted you within six weeks it's because we are not able to take any action.
Once you have submitted a report on this site, you’ll be able to download a copy of it. That will be a collision report. You will be able to send that report to your insurance company or solicitor.
