An escalation model has been implemented where initial warning letters may be issued following a first incident. Further incidents can result in Community Protection Warnings and Community Protection Notices. It can then lead to Criminal Behaviour Orders or injunctions, which if breached can lead to arrests.
Details of those who are offending, by either the manner of driving or illegal modifications, may also be passed onto their insurers which will affect their premiums and may lead to policy refusal.
We have investigated associated driving offences and prosecuted drivers where appropriate. This has resulted in fines, points on licences and driving disqualifications. These productions have followed incidents attended by officers during a car meet, CCTV footage submitted to us and witness evidence.
