Norfolk Constabulary has held a drone capability since 2017, attending a multitude of deployments including missing persons, firearms and thermal imagery. Drones are being increasingly utilised within policing, having conducted over 1500 deployments in the past year. To address this demand, Norfolk now utilises a dedicated operational drone team, training team and development team.
Norfolk Drone Training Academy has been delivering drone training since 2018, providing training both internally to operational pilots and externally to a wide array of organisations including Police, Fire and Search and Rescue Teams. Working alongside policing and wider industry partners such as the National Police Chief’s Council, Norfolk Drone Training Academy remains at the forefront of drone policing offering the latest courses to maximise flight safety and effectiveness within your team. The training academy is situated within a rural Norfolk village. It is easily accessible and close to major route networks and hotels.
Our training is now hosted by a dedicated team of instructors with current operational expertise. The recently developed site offers a dedicated classroom and workshop, designed to enhance theoretical and technical learning. Practical flight training can be conducted on-site, giving pilots the opportunity to develop their flight skills within a safe environment. Flight training can also be conducted in rural, urban and complex airspace environments to enhance operational applicability. Familiarity and flight training can be conducted on a multitude on UAS platforms both indoor and outdoor of varied sizes and manufactures including DJI, Autel, Swellpro and Evolve.
