Police are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in his 40s in Norwich.
Officers were called at 4.26am yesterday (Saturday 11 January) to the River Wensum near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge following reports a man had entered the water.
Emergency services including fire and ambulance attended and pulled the man from the water.
He was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital but sadly died a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Officers are keen to establish how the man entered the water and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen him in the area at the time.
He is described as an Asian man, of slim build and around 5 foot 9 tall. He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, black trousers and a distinctive black wide brimmed hat. He was also carrying a large black holdall.
Anyone who may have been in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of yesterday and who may have seen anything, or who has relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage is asked to contact Norfolk Police via any of the following channels quoting CAD 53 of 11th January.
