A man has been arrested, charged and sentenced following a burglary in Norwich at the weekend.
James Smith, 47, of Stracey Road, Norwich appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday 28 January 2025) where he pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal.
This follows an incident that occurred at a bar on Bedford Street on Sunday (26 January) at around 7.13am where Smith broke in, damaging a fire door and turned a CCTV camera towards a wall before taking approximately £300 from the cash till.
Smith was arrested on Monday (27 January) and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he was later charged and remanded into custody.
He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday 28 January) where he was sentenced to 26 weeks suspended for 28 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
