Two men charged and four arrests following burglaries in Great Yarmouth

An operation has been put together to target overnight crime following a series of burglaries that have occurred across Great Yarmouth, Caister and Gorleston.

Since the operation started at the beginning of February, police have charged two men and made four arrests in relation to these incidents.

• On 17 February, Dean Walker, 52, of England’s Lane, Gorleston was charged with criminal damage and going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle following two incidents which occurred on the evening of 16 February on Avondale Road and Cliff Hill. He has been bailed ahead of his appearance at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on 16 April 2025.
• On 15 February, Billy Stratton, 23, of Chaucer Road, Great Yarmouth was charged with three counts of burglary, theft of motor vehicle and criminal damage following three burglaries which occurred between 13-14 February in Rollesby and Gorleston. He appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 15 February where he was remanded into custody ahead of his next court appearance on 17 March 2025.
• On 3 February two teenage boys were arrested on Pegasus Close and Brooke Avenue in Caister on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage following a burglary on St. Nicholas Drive, Caister. They have since been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth PIC on 5 April 2025.
• On 31 January two boys in their late teens were arrested on Collingwood Road on suspicion of attempted burglary, and one was also arrested on suspicion of drugs possession, following an attempted burglary on North Drive in the early hours of 31 January. They have both been bailed to appear at Great Yarmouth PIC on 1 March 2025.

Inspector Andy Tomlinson, from Great Yarmouth Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “In response to burglaries and overnight crime in our local communities over the last month, we’ve deployed plain clothed and uniformed officers to carry out patrols in a bid to tackle this type of crime, which has significant distress to victims.”
