A closure order for a property in Cringleford, which was the subject of anti-social behaviour and drug complaints, was granted by the courts yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2024).
The South Norfolk and Broadland Operational Partnership Team (OPT) have been working closely with partnership agencies to address the concerns raised about the property on Verbena Road. Reports made to police and partners included playing loud music during the night, concerns of drug dealing and drug use.
Officers issued a notice of application for a partial closure order to the address on Monday (2 September). The OPT attended Norwich Magistrates Court yesterday to have the closure order granted under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
The order will last for a period of three months, making it a criminal offence for anyone except certain named individuals to enter or remain inside the property.
Sergeant Barwick of OPT has said: “The behaviour displayed by those at the property on Verbena Road have caused a significant negative impact on the community, and we hope that this closure order can offer some relief to local residents.”
