Police are continuing their efforts to find missing man Jim Harper.
Specialist search officers and volunteers from Lowland Search and Rescue will be out in Dereham on Saturday and Sunday (16 and 17 November 2024) revisiting an area close to where Jim was last seen at Roys of Dereham in Yaxham Road.
The area being searched includes woodland behind the store where Jim, aged 55, was captured on CCTV buying a tarpaulin and items that could be construed as suitable for making a shelter.
Inspector Simon Jones is again appealing for the public’s help to locate Jim.
Jim, from Weasenham, who is also known as Gene, was last seen in Roys at 11.47am on Tuesday 17 September 2024.
Officers have carried out a range of inquires and searches including checking CCTV and investigating reported sightings, however, there has been no sign of him.
Insp Jones said: “Two months have now passed since Jim was last seen and it goes without saying this has been a very worrying time for his loved ones.
“Unfortunately, our investigations so far have not identified any activity that could help us to locate him.
“I would ask people who know the area around the Roys store if they remember seeing anyone who fits Jim’s description over the last few months.
“We are open to all possibilities, one of which is that he could be sleeping rough in woodland off the beaten track.
“If you have seen anything that looks unusual or could be evidence of someone having made a makeshift camp or still living in one please do let us know.”
Officers are also asking people living or working in the area to check any sheds, outbuildings or commercial buildings they may not regularly access in the search for the 55-year-old.
Jim is described as white, 173cm (5ft 6ins) tall, balding, with a grey beard and glasses. He is believed to have been wearing a dark green checkered shirt, with a dark jacket and trousers.
Officers remain concerned for Jim’s welfare and are asking anyone who has seen him or has any information on where he may be to contact Norfolk Police on 101 quoting CAD 549 of 21 September 2024.
