A 17-year-old boy has been charged with absconding from lawful custody.
The boy was arrested by officers in Cambridgeshire yesterday (Friday 17 May 2024) after absconding from local authority care on Saturday 27 April. He was brought back to Norfolk for questioning at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre and subsequently charged.
The 17-year-old, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Norwich Magistrates Court today (Saturday 18 May). He was remanded into youth detention to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 23 May.
The arrest follows an incident in Thetford on Sunday 10 March 2024 when a man aged in his 30s suffered multiple stab wounds.
The 17-year-old was previously charged with attempted murder, alongside 18-year-old Elvis Price. They are both due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 23 May.
