A man from Stalham has appeared in court for sentencing after being charged with multiple drug offences.
The man appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday last week (13 March 2024) following ongoing work by police teams and partner agencies in Norfolk to tackle antisocial behaviour in Stalham.
Police had attended a property in Wilson Road, Stalham, on three separate occasions in August last year (2023) responding each time to reports of men suspected of near-fatal overdoses on drugs inside the property (one man on each occasion).
On 15 August 2023, officers returned to the address with a search warrant and found used needles, pills, cannabis tobacco, cannabis sweets, and two sets of digital scales inside.
A man living at the address was arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A and C drugs, and synthetic opiates such as Nitazene – a substance thought to be 500 times stronger than Fentanyl, with links to fatalities when taken.
Jack Childs, aged 22, of Wilson Road, Stalham was charged the next day (16 August 2023) with one count of supplying cannabis, and five counts of offering to supply a range of drugs.
Childs appeared at Norwich Crown Court on 1 February 2024 charged with:
Supplying cannabis
Offering to supply class A drugs (MDMA)
Offering to supply class A drugs (DMT – Dimenthyltryptamine)
Offering to supply class C drugs (Bromaz – bromazepam)
Offering to supply class C drugs (Clonaz – clonazepam)
Offering to supply class C drugs (Zans & blues – Benzodiazepines)
On Wednesday 13 March 2024, appearing again at Norwich Crown Court, Childs was sentenced to 38 months in prison, and ordered to pay a surcharge of £228.
