Police can confirm the body of a man has been found in the water at Candle Dyke near Hickling Broad.
The body was discovered this afternoon Wednesday 28 February at Candle Dyke following an extensive search by Norfolk Constabulary’s Marine Unit, Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and officers using advanced sonar equipment at scene.
While the body has yet to be formally identified, the search for David Cubberely, 65, who was last seen Wednesday 13 February 2024, has been stood down.
A member of the public raised the alarm regarding David's welfare on Saturday 17 February 2024 shortly after 3pm when his boat was found in reeds at Candle Dyke.
Inquiries are ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
