Police were called to an incident in King’s Lynn in the early hours of Sunday morning (3 March 2024) after an altercation in which a man was left with serious injuries.
A fight took place involving a group of people during the early hours at around 4am on Littleport Street in King’s Lynn. One man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and has been transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital with serious injuries and is in stable condition.
A number of road closures are in place including the A148 Gaywood Road junction with Loke Road and Austin Street to Littleport Street out of town towards Gaywood while inquiries take place. Diversions are in place. A cordon is currently on at the scene.
Five men in their 20s and two women, one in her 20s and one in her 30s, were all arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident and were taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning where they remain.
Detectives are investigating if this incident is linked to two other incidents in King’s Lynn over the weekend. At around 4pm on Saturday (2 March) a man was assaulted in the Millfleet Court area. At approximately 8am on Sunday (3 March) a male was assaulted on Blackfriars Road. Both victims of these incidents suffered serious injuries but not life threatening and were taken to hospital.
Detective Inspector Niky Greenacre said: “We are exploring if the incident on Littleport Street is linked to two other incidents in Kings Lynn over the weekend. It is important to say that we not looking for anyone else in connection with these incidents and believe them to be isolated incidents. There is no wider risk to the public”
