A man who targeted parked cars in Norwich has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Frankie Saich, aged 39, of no fixed address, admitted to a string of thefts when he appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court on Friday 13 December 2024.
He was charged with two theft from motor vehicles in November both of which were in breach of a three year Criminal Behaviour Order handed to him by magistrates in December 2023.
They were the theft of some historic, collectable coins from a vehicle overnight on 13/14 November and the theft of a satnav from a vehicle in the same street on 14 November.
He was connected to the first by a forensic match and by doorbell footage to the second.
Further investigations by Operation Converter led to a further 12 crimes being admitted and taken into account by the court. These were one theft of a pedal cycle and 11 theft from motor vehicles.
He was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £50 compensation to one of his victims.
Staff supervisor for Op Converter Duncan Etchells said Saich’s drug habit was behind his offending.
He said: “We are committed to protecting neighbourhoods from people like Saich and bringing them to justice. We would always encourage people to report anything suspicious and would remind them to remove all valuables from their vehicles.”
