The Project Servator team have started deployments at Norwich Airport. From April 2024, you may see our officers out and about as you jet off on holiday!
Project Servator is a policing tactic that aims to disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public. Using a mixture of plain clothed and uniformed officers, the approach relies on unpredictable and highly visible police deployments. At the same time, the team are building a network of vigilance made up of business and community partners and the general public.
We would love to talk to you about how we can all work together to keep the airport safe. If you see our officers in and around the airport, please approach them. Officers will be happy to explain what they are doing and answer any questions you may have.
Sgt Gary Owen, of the Project Servator team said: “Servator means ‘watcher’, and it is so important to have a great working relationship with the public and our partners. This enables us to share information and shows any person attending Norwich Airport, with criminal intent, that we are working together to detect and deter criminality.
“Our aim is to reassure the public that we are proactively working to ensure that Norwich Airport remains a safe place to visit, whilst making it a hostile and difficult space for criminals to work within without the risk of being identified.”
