A man has been sentenced to seven years for two rapes in Norwich.
Scott Morgan, aged 25 and of Recorder Road, Norwich has been sentenced to seven years in prison and three years on extended license for two counts of rape. He appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Monday (15 April 2024) after previously pleading guilty to both counts. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
This sentencing follows an incident on Monday 13 March 2023 when the victim had been on a night out with Morgan and a group of friends. Morgan, the victim and a friend returned to Morgan’s address late that night to continue socialising. Whilst the victim was in the bathroom, Morgan asked the other friend present at the address to leave, so that he could be alone with them. Morgan proceeded to rape the victim on two separate occasions.
The victim then fled the address and sought help from police once they had returned home. Morgan was arrested a short while later on suspicion of rape and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was bailed and later charged.
On Monday 15 April 2024, he was sentenced to seven years in prison and three years on extended license.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Lawrence Oakes said: “Norfolk Police are committed to supporting victims of sexual offences and bringing offenders to justice.
“Morgan is a dangerous individual who, thanks to the bravery and courage of the victim, no longer poses a threat to the community in Norwich.
“No sentence will ever heal the trauma Morgan has inflicted on his victim however, I do sincerely hope that the closure of this case will be another stage in their healing process.
