Police were called to reports of a suspicious object found near Shetland Drive in Watton this afternoon (1 Dec 2023).
Emergency services, including fire, were called after a metal object was discovered while tree works were being carried out at the location not far from Norwich Road at 2.57pm.
Officers have put a 100m cordon in place for public safety and road closures are in place from Washington Drive to Akrotiri Square. Drivers have been advised to avoid the route.
Explosive Ordinance Disposal are attending the scene.
Around 30 houses have been advised to evacuate near to the scene and can attend Watton Sports Centre, Dereham Road, in Watton where a representative from Breckland Council is attending the location.
