Woman jailed for drug smuggle

Judges Gavel

A 26-year-old woman has been jailed for six months after trying to smuggle drugs into Norwich Prison.

Dominique Luxford, of High Street in Lowestoft, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Friday 5 February 2016.

Prison officers caught Luxford trying to take heroin into HMP Norwich on Tuesday 17 November 2015 and she was later charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Inspector Nick Hewitt from Norfolk Constabulary said: "The sentencing of Luxford sends a clear message that together with HMP Norwich and the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit (ERSOU) we will prosecute those who think they can smuggle anything into Norwich Prison.”
