Serious assault in Caister

Detectives are investigating a serious assault which happened in Caister, near Great Yarmouth, at the weekend.

Police were called to the High Street shortly before 12.20am on Sunday (3 September) following reports two men were involved in an altercation.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to the James Paget University Hospital for treatment for a non-life threatening knife wound to the abdomen and facial injuries.

A man in his 30s, arrested on suspicion of GBH, was also taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries and later questioned. He was released on bail until 25 September while enquiries continue.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning it.
