Man's body discovered on A47

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) have located the vehicle thought to be involved with a fatal fail-to-stop collision, which took place on the A47 at Colney yesterday, Thursday 14 January 2016.

Police were called around 4.30am, after the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s and from the Norwich area, was discovered on the side of the carriageway near to the junction of the B1108 Watton Road eastbound on the A47.

The vehicle believed to of been involved has been located and the driver will be spoken to by officers in due course.

The A47 eastbound carriageway was closed whilst enquiries were carried out and was re-opened shortly after 1pm.

Officers are still keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident. They should contact the PC Keith Wiseman from the SCIT on 101.

Appeal for witnesses over A47 collision

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) are appealing for witnesses to, what appears to be, a fatal fail to stop collision on the A47 in the early hours of this morning.

The body of man, believed to be in his 40s from the Norwich area, was discovered on the side of the carriageway about half a mile past the B1108 eastbound on the A47. His next of kin are being informed.

The A47 eastbound carriageways will remain closed between the B1108 and the Thickthorn roundabout while police scene enquiries continue.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the SCIT on 101.
