Man charged with attempted murder and kidnap

A man has been charged with attempted murder and kidnapping after a woman was found with stab wounds in the Ipswich area earlier this week.

Officers were called just after 8.40am on Monday 26 April 2021 to reports a woman had been seen in distress in the Yarmouth Road area of Kirby Cane, near Bungay. The woman was then seen being driven away from the address.

At 11.20am, Suffolk Police received reports that a woman had been found with stab wounds in Nacton village, near Ipswich. The woman was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire with serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

Christopher Crichton, aged 32 and of Park Street in Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex is due to appear before Norwich Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday 28 April).

Police are continuing to investigate after a woman was found with stab wounds in the Ipswich area yesterday (Monday 26 April 2021).

At 11.20am, Suffolk Police received reports that a woman had been found with stab wounds in the Nacton village area of Ipswich. The woman was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire with serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre. He has since been transferred to the Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre where he remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Tom Smith, from Norfolk Police, said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the events leading up to the woman sustaining her injuries. However, we do believe those involved are known to each other.”

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident this morning.

Officers were called just after 8.40am this morning (Monday 26 April 2021) to reports a woman had been seen in distress in the Yarmouth Road area of Kirby Cane, near Bungay. The woman was then seen being driven away from the address.

At 11.20am, Suffolk Police received reports that a woman had been found with stab wounds in the Nacton village area of Ipswich. The woman has been airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridgeshire with serious injuries.

Church Road in Nacton is currently closed and a cordon is in place.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.

Detective Inspector Tom Smith, from Norfolk Police,  said: “We are at the early stages of our investigation but enquiries are ongoing to establish the events leading up to the woman sustaining her injuries. However, we do believe those involved are known to each other.”
