Hopton man sentenced over indecent images

A 34-year-old man from Hopton has been sentenced after admitting possessing thousands of indecent images of children.

Gavin Hamilton, of Sea View Rise, Hopton, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Friday 5 February 2016 where he was sentenced to a three year community order, with a three year supervision order.

Hamilton had previously pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to five counts of making indecent images of children.

An operation by officers from Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies targeting internet paedophiles carried out a warrant at Hamilton’s home address in April 2014.

A number of items were seized including a Dell laptop, a Samsung laptop and memory sticks. Following forensic examination they were found to contain thousands of indecent photographs and a number of indecent videos of children.

Hamilton was also ordered to undertake an internet sex offender programme, placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years and given a five year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
