Dereham burglar jailed

A burglar has been jailed for two years and three months after he was caught red handed with stolen goods in a rucksack after a break-in earlier this year.

Neil Barrett, 46 and of Hillcrest Avenue in Dereham, was sentenced after pleading guilty to burglary on Monday 15 February 2016 at Norwich Crown Court.

Police were called shortly before midnight on Thursday 14 January 2016 to reports of a loud bang and a man, who wearing a rucksack, acting suspiciously and hiding by a property in Hyde Road in Dereham.

He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning where he was subsequently charged.
