Man charged following incident in North Walsham

Eight people have been arrested following a disturbance in North Walsham earlier this week (Monday 22 June).

Officers were called to Yarmouth Road at approximately 7pm following reports of a fight, of up to 20 people, which is believed to have involved weapons. Specialist officers were deployed to the scene; however, no one was located on arrival.

Enquiries have led officers to arrest eight men, four aged in their 20s, one aged in his 30s and three in their teens, in connection with the incident. Seven of those have since been released on police bail.

Simon Chetwyn, aged 33, of Black Swan Loke, North Walsham has since been charged with violent disorder, possession of a bladed article and possession of an air weapon in a public place. He has been remanded into custody to appear at court tomorrow morning (Friday 26 June).

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning it. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have any dashcam footage of the Lidl car park on Yarmouth Road and the library car park on New Road to come forward.

Appeal following incident in North Walsham

Officers are appealing for witnesses following an incident in North Walsham last night (Monday 22 June).

Officers were called to Lidl on Yarmouth Road at approximately 7pm following reports of a fight, of up to 20 people, which is believed to have involved weapons. Specialist officers were deployed to the scene; however, no one was located on arrival.

Following initial enquiries officers have arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with any information should contact Great Yarmouth CID on 101 quoting incident number 365 of yesterday’s date (Monday 22 June 2020).
