Sudden death in Swaffham not suspicious

Police investigating the death of a woman in Swaffham have confirmed they are not treating it as suspicious.


Officers were called to a property in Highfield Avenue at 11.30pm Friday 18 October and discovered the body of a woman aged in her 90s.


A Home Office post mortem examination took place earlier today (Sunday 20 October 2019) and whilst further tests will be carried out to establish the cause of death, it is not being treated as suspicious.


A file will be prepared for the coroner ahead of an inquest which will take place in due course.

Police are investigating after the body of an elderly woman was discovered at a property in Swaffham yesterday evening. 

Officers were called at 11:30pm following concerns for the occupant of an address in Highfield Avenue. After entering the property, the body of a woman in her 90s was discovered. 

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a Home Office post mortem is due to take place tomorrow. 

The area has been cordoned off while officers continue to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
