Police trace driver following fatal RTC

Police investigating a fatal collision at Horsham St Faith last night (Wednesday 14 August) can confirm the driver of a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene has been traced.

Officers were called shortly after 10pm to reports of a collision on the A1270 Northern Distributor Road near the A140 slip road towards Hellesdon.

A blue BMW had stopped on the roadside and the driver had got out of the car. The driver was then subsequently involved in a collision with two vehicles, an orange MG3 and a small silver car similar to a Peugeot 106 or Citroen C1. The man, aged in his late 40s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the small silver car initially stopped but then left the scene and following a public appeal has now made contact with police.

Officers are still keen to hear from anyone who may have any information or witnessed the collision, particularly anyone who saw the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved.

Anyone with information are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on 101. Alternatively email: [email protected]

Man sadly dies following collision on the Northern Distributor Road

Police can confirm a man has died following a collision on the Northern Distributor Road last night (Wednesday 14 August).

Officers were called shortly after 10pm to reports of a collision on the A1270 at Horsham St faith near the A140 slip road towards Hellesdon.

A blue BMW has stopped on the roadside and the driver has got out of the car. The driver was then subsequently involved in a collision with two vehicles, an orange MG3 and a small silver car similar to a Peugeot 106 or Citroen C1. The man, aged in his late 40s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Inspector Chris Hinitt, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team, said: “We believe the driver of the BMW may have hit an animal and stopped on the roadside to check the damage. He has then been involved in a collision with two other vehicles, one of which, the silver car initially stopped but then left the scene. We’re keen to trace the driver of this car, who we think is a woman in her 20s. I would like to stress we are keen to trace this driver as she appeared distressed and we want to check her welfare and obtain her account.”

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and was re-opened at about 4am.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information or witnessed the collision, particularly anyone who saw the manner of driving of any of the vehicles involved.

Anyone with information are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on 101. Alternatively email: [email protected]
