Witness appeal - Norwich arson incidents

Police are appealing for information following two incidents of suspected arson in Norwich.

The first incident took place at a property in Balderston Court, Calvert street at approximately 5:20am, on Saturday 11 January 2020.

A first floor flat had been set alight, causing serious damage to the flat.

The second incident took place the same day, at approximately 6am, on Prince of Wales road. A sleeping bag and other items were set alight, close to the bridge end of the road.

Nobody was injured in either fire, and initial enquiries suggest the two incidents are connected.

A man in his 20’s was arrested in connection with the two incidents, and later detained under the mental health act.

Norwich, suspected arson incidents

Police were called at 5:26am this morning (Saturday 11 January 2020) to reports of a suspected arson at a property in Balderston Court, Calvert Street.

Just before 6:30am this morning (Saturday 11 January 2020) police were also made aware of a suspected arson incident on Prince of Wales Road, in which some bedding appeared to have been set on fire.

Nobody was injured in either fire, and initial enquiries lead officers to believe that the two incidents are like to be connected.

A man in his 20’s was arrested in connection with the two incidents, and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
