Case Assistant – VAWS Team

The post holder will provide clerical and administrative support to the Criminal Justice Services (CJS).  The Victim and Witness Services provide information/updates and support to witnesses.  Some of the main duties of the role will include: data entry/updating force systems with Court file information and maintaining accuracy, liaising with partner agencies, updating victims and witnesses on GAP court cases, interrogating force intelligence systems, handling telephone enquiries, and preparing letters and pro-formas.

The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal and applicants should have experience of working effectively as part of a team.

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately input data to computerised systems
  • Experience of creating accurate documents
  • Good keyboard skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft


It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Previous office / administrative experience
  • Previous Customer Service experience


Hours of work are 37 per week Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
