Applications are invited for the above post in the Athena Investigations Management Hub based at OCC, Wymondham or PHQ, Martlesham. The basic salary is £23,361 – £26,433 (pro rata for part-time) but with shift and weekend enhancements equates to £31,169 per annum (pro rata for part-time). This can rise incrementally to £35,267 per annum following progression through the Band (pro rata for part-time). The role includes a rotating shift pattern (days, nights, weekend and bank holiday working) for which appropriate allowances will be paid. The role also includes 24 days paid leave pro rata increasing to 29 days after 5 years employment.
The successful applicant will be required to ensure the quality of recording and investigation of crime and incidents which are maintained at all times for Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as part of the Joint Athena Investigations Management Hub (IMU).
Main activities of the role include:
- Quality assure, link, update and finalise crimes in Athena in accordance with Force Policy and National Crime Recording Standards;
- Identify vulnerability and risk within incidents;
- Ensure customer service standards are applied to the victims of crime in accordance with the Constabulary Vision, Pledge and Principles and in accordance to the Victims Charter;
- Provide guidance to officers to increase their effectiveness in crime recording and investigations;
- Ensure close liaison with the Force Crime registrar on matters of compliance to the National Crime Recording Standards (NCRS) and Home Office Counting Rules;
- Manage and supervise all allocated investigations which have Forensic evidence;
- Establish and maintain regular contact with the Forensic Intelligence Officers to maximise investigative opportunity
- Pro-actively resolve issues of system errors upon discovery (this includes recording, linking and misidentified nominal records)
- Support front line staff upon request regarding crime policy and investigation
- Provide administrative support including taking telephone calls and liaising with other departments
- Perform actions as a Designated Decision Maker (DDM) subject to approval by the Force Crime Registrar and relevant Chief Officer
- Undertake mentoring for new staff at management request once trained
Any other duties commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Good keyboard skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and databases
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels
- Demonstrate an understanding of crime recording procedures
- Demonstrate an understanding of crime investigation procedures and techniques
- Proven ability to work as part of a team
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate effective problem solving skills
- Knowledge of force Criminal Intelligence Section (CIS), Storm and Forensic Intelligence systems
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the National Crime Recording Standards and Home Office Counting Rules
Hours of work are 37 per week on a rotating shift pattern. This post is offered on a temporary basis.
Consideration will be given to whether the post can be delivered on either a part time or job share basis, in line with the organisational requirements of this role.
