Accelerated Misconduct Hearing - Outcome
Name of Officer: Former Police Constable 9056 Tamsin RAINES
An accelerated hearing was held on Wednesday 6th November 2024 at Norfolk Constabulary, Operations and Communications Centre, Wymondham. The hearing was chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Nicholas DAVISON.
Summary of conduct:
At 22:15 hours on Thursday 20th July 2024, the officer, whilst off duty, but a serving police officer with Norfolk Constabulary, drove a motor vehicle on a public road. She was stopped by a police officer and subsequently correctly breathalysed in accordance with the law which saw her fail the roadside breath test. She was arrested and completed the police station drink drive procedures. The subsequent analysis of a blood sample showed that she was over the prescribed limit. On 11th September 2024 the officer pleaded guilty at Magistrates Court, resulting in her being disqualified from driving and fined.
Finding and Outcome:
The Chair found that that the former officer breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to Discreditable Conduct, that the officer’s conduct amount to gross misconduct. The Chair’s decision on outcome was that had the former officer remained a serving officer then she would have been dismissed.
