Overview
This course is designed for competent students with extensive previous drone/flight experience who require re-classification and qualification.
Aims and Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to guide an experienced student through the qualificative process with refreshed competency in both theoretical and practical drone flight.
Objectives:
- Understanding of the basics of flight safety.
- Understanding and application of operational environment risk assessments and risk mitigation.
- Understanding and application of pre-flight actions, in-flight procedures and post-flight actions.
- Understanding of legislation and your own operational parameters.
Training Plan
Day 1
Teach Modules 1-6 (Air Law/Responsibilities, UAS Airspace Operating Principles, Airmanship and Aviation Safety, Human Performance Limitations, Meteorology, Navigation/Charts).
Day 2
AM: Recap modules 1-6 & Exam
PM: Teach modules 7-8 (UAS General Knowledge, Operator Responsibilities/Operating Procedures) & Exam.
Day 3 (1/2 day)
Practical flight exam (Pre-Flight Actions, In-Flight Procedures, Post-Flight Actions) and feedback.
Overview
This course is proposed for students of all abilities wishing to achieve a safe standard of regular flight with competent ability to react to emergency eventualities. It will further our GVC course through employment of more supervised flight time and the application of emergency scenarios.
Aims and Objectives
The overall aim of this course is to navigate a student with any level of experience through the qualificative theoretical, technical and practical flight process. This course will guide them to become a competent and efficient pilot with the ability to conduct routine flights safely, effectively assess and mitigate risks and react to emergency eventualities efficiently.
Objectives:
- Achieve a thorough understanding of the theoretical applications behind drone flight, including operational procedures, pilot responsibilities and current legislation.
- Attain a competent level of flying, with understanding of the operational envelope including the aircraft, the environment and their own capabilities.
- Gain a good level of understanding and application of operational risk assessments and risk mitigation towards outside influences when operating, including reaction to emergency eventualities such as flying and landing safely during an emergency.
Training Plan
Day 1
Teach Modules 1-6 (Air Law/Responsibilities, UAS Airspace Operating Principles, Airmanship and Aviation Safety, Human Performance Limitations, Meteorology, Navigation/Charts).
Day 2
AM: Recap modules 1-6 & Exam
PM: Teach modules 7-8 (UAS General Knowledge, Operator Responsibilities/Operating Procedures) & Exam.
Day 3
AM: Aircraft familiarisation and basic flying.
PM: Indoor and outdoor flying to understand the axis point and orientation.
Day 4
AM: Aircraft training in basic flying and testing limits
PM: Maintenance and software knowledge, understanding of flight parameters, close proximity flying and managing emergencies within flight.
Day 5
AM: Flight training with tracking, search tactics and grid searching.
PM: Practical flight exam (Pre-Flight Actions, In-Flight Procedures, Post-Flight Actions) and feedback.
Overview
This course is tailored for Emergency Service Operators who will fly drones at public order, firearms, and other high demand incidents. The course encompasses: night flying, exemptions, live deployments and fast paced, reactive situations. Unlike our other courses, week 2 involves working with operational drone pilots within live operations in different situations and environments. Fundamentally, this course will achieve up to 10 hours of practical, operational flight time so students will leave universally regarded as fully operational.

The overarching aim of this course is to direct an emergency services student with any level of prior experience through their qualificative process with large attention directed towards operational applications. The students will become proficient in the theoretical, technical and practical aspects of drone flight, as well as additional drone capabilities within a variety of environments and fast paced operational deployments.

- Attain an experienced level of flying, with understanding of the operational envelope including the aircraft, the environment and their own capabilities.

- Experience effective application of all aspects of training within an operational context, in order to develop future operational safety and proficiency.

Days 6-9
A mixture of attending live taskings and scenario based learning with our operational drone pilots. Students will aim to attend taskings for each of the following:
- Search & Rescue
- Exemption Training
- Search & Track
- Containment & Visual Observations
- Indoor Search Tactics
- Pre-Planned Events & Live Streaming
- Intelligence & Evidence Gathering
- Drone Misuse Mitigation & Law
Day 10
Students will culminate back at the academy to cover any taskings not already attended during the week, followed by a final de-brief.
Overview
This course will be offered to all organisations with several courses running annually. The purpose of this course is to refresh overall competency and legislative awareness for those already qualified. These will include all aspects of ongoing development, including theoretical, practical and technical applications.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of this course is to ensure the competency of pilots is certified and maximised continuously. It will allow Norfolk Drone Training Academy to communicate any changes in CAA legislation or necessary updates in training to be communicated through our training channels.
Objectives:
- Refresh any required training or understanding on various topics including theoretical, technical, practical or legislative.
