4. Cyber Choices

Importantly we only deal with incidents which are labelled as ‘Cyber Dependent’. Essentially this means illegal computer hacking, the use of malware tools, Distributed Denial of Service DDoS/Dos attacks and other similar activities.
We want to work with educational establishments to support, educate and divert these individuals as early as possible. We aim to provide young people with the information they need to make informed decisions and prevent all but the most determined from committing these types of offences.
Under Home Office Crime Recording Rules we are able to support schools with young people who have potentially committed certain offences within the school environment without recording a crime.
To refer a person to the Cyber Choices scheme please email the regional co-ordination team at [email protected] and provide:
- Brief overview of individual(s) and situation
- Why you think they would be suitable for Cyber Choices
They will then assess suitability and gather any additional information to progress the referral before passing it to a local Cyber Choices officer to manage the referral.
