Title

Code of ethics

The Code of Ethics applies to all officers and staff in England and Wales, in every force, in every role, at every level.

The Code lays out the principles and standards of behaviour that everyone who works in policing should aspire to. It is intended to be used on a day-to-day basis to guide behaviour and decision-making and has been written "by" policing "for" policing. Norfolk Constabulary has committed to the code and has embedded it into the culture of the organisation.

The public must be able to trust the police to be competent and to act ethically. The Code allows the public to assess what they should expect and encourages them to demand the highest standards from the police.
