Some of the support services the Victim and Witness Support include:

  • Notification an update of your case as soon as a person has been charged
  • An agreement with you regarding the level of support and information you need, your preferred means of contact - the service is tailored to each individual
  • Full explanation and guidance about each stage of the justice process
  • Arrangement of visits to the court room before a trial takes place
  • A dedicated member of staff to provide guidance and support on domestic violence issues
  • Specialist attention for sensitive cases.

 

If you are a Victim or a Witness in the Criminal Justice system we will:

  • Ensure you have access to good quality information about the Criminal Justice System and other support available from both local and national sources about your own case
  • Provide you with practical and emotional help and refer to the appropriate services
  • Offer you a consistently high quality of service from our staff
  • Take your views into account by obtaining a Victim Personal Statement (VPS)
  • We will tackle intimidation and meet the needs of vulnerable witnesses
  • Improve the experience of Victims and Witnesses going to court
  • We will meet the needs of domestic violence victims and tackle repeat victimisation
  • Our Victim and Witness Support Team are unable to complete this extensive requirement itself, and relies on the hard work and quality of operational officers and support staff.
