Water
Not only is Norfolk filled with roaming countryside to explore,
it also is home to seaside towns and coastal retreats.
Miles of beautiful coastline and the Norfolk Broads,
dubbed 'Britain's Magical Waterland', provide an
opportunity for all the family to enjoy a day out.
Whether it's navigating the many rivers and lakes as a
first-timer or a seasoned professional, Norfolk continues to
provide a beautiful environment to explore.
Norfolk Constabulary has a dedicated Broads Beat team whose role is to keep the
waterways safe and free from criminal activity.
When out on the river, you may catch sight of the team on
patrol as they aim to offer reassurance and on-the-spot
assistance to both local people and visitors to the county.
Follow these safety tips to keep your property safe while out on
a boat:
- Keep your boat keys separate from your engine keys
- Don't leave your keys in the ignition - always take them with
you
- Always keep your boat locked when no-one is on board
- Never leave anything valuable in display
- Don't leave anything loose in the cockpit or on deck
- Use strong padlocks or rim locks on all your hatches, entry
points and cockpit lockers
- Keep a list of all the serial numbers on valuables and property
mark them with your home postcode
- Remember to review and improve the security on your boat
regularly. Locks will need replacing as well as property marking
your valuables
- Consider buying a Norfolk Constabulary outboard motor cover to
deter engine theft - contact your local Safer
Neighbourhood Team (SNT) for details
- Remove outboards during winter months.
