Packing a picnic and heading to the woods?

Norfolk is home to picturesque and beautiful scenery, historic locations, and fun-filled attractions to amuse all the family.

Whether it is taking a gentle trip around a stately home, screaming from a rollercoaster or packing that picnic, where sandwiches and drinks provide the energy for the next part of your trek, there is plenty to do in Norfolk.

Whilst the warm weather provides the opportunities for these days out, unfortunately it also provides an opportunity for thieves. Historically at this time of year, police see a rise in thefts from vehicles parked at public parks, attractions and beaches.

To help combat this, regular police patrols of these sites are stepped up, but there is much you can do to help prevent this opportunist crime.

  • Don't leave handbags, wallets or other belongings unattended
  • Don't leave items in view whilst your car is parked
  • Remove bags, sat navs, cameras and phones, even if you are only leaving your car for a few minutes
  • Keep a mobile phone with you in case of emergency
  • Remember a map, you will be safer if you know where you are and how to get home
  • Stick to well-lit paths and avoid walking alone at night
  • Contact the police if you see anyone acting suspiciously around parked vehicles immediately on 999, giving as full as description as possible.
