Project Kraken encourages those who work in or enjoy Norfolk’s
maritime environment to be extra vigilant to counter the threat of
terrorism.
By working with local communities and partners, Project Kraken
aims to prevent and deter terrorist groups and criminals from
operating in the county’s waters while making our harbours, ports
and coastline safer for those using it legitimately.
Through enhanced counter terrorism awareness and sharing
information, Norfolk’s waters can continue to be safe.
How does Project Kraken work?
The Project Kraken reporting number is 101.
You can report suspicious activity or behaviour that you think
may be linked to acts (or preparatory acts) of terrorism or crime
within the maritime environment.
It is impossible to say what a terrorist might look like.
However, an individual’s activity or behaviour can become
suspicious in the context of the location they are in.
Likewise, the unexpected or unusual presence of a vessel or a
particular cargo within a small port or marina might concern those
who live, work or relax in that particular environment on a regular
basis.
The Project Kraken reporting line provides a central point of
contact for the collation, assessment and analysis of all
information relating to suspicious activity or behaviour that could
be linked to terrorism or crime.
Following analysis of the information, Norfolk Constabulary and
partners will be in a strong position to deploy assets and
resources appropriately in response to a potential or defined
threat.

What do we ask of you?
Quite simply, call the Project Kraken reporting number whenever
you see any activity or behaviour that you feel is suspicious and
which may be connected with acts (or preparatory acts) of terrorism
or serious crime.
At times of heightened risk, we may contact you with a specific
report or request for assistance in ‘observing and reporting’ for a
particular individual, group, vehicle or vessel.
If you suspect it, report it. Call 101 and
quote Project Kraken.
Remember – if you see a crime occurring always call
