Safe Scoot, as a campaign, received national television coverage on the Michael Ball Show, where Superintendent Jim Smerdon with the help of the Red Wheelies promoted the mobility scooter safety awareness course.

The ITV1 daytime show also featured special guest Brian Conley who got involved in learning how to operate a mobility scooter safely.

Superintendent Jim Smerdon remained on hand to provide safety tips, but it was his police powers that were required by the end as one of the contestants was 'arrested' for dangerous mobility scooter driving.
