Key Facts

• The West Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team is responsible for a large area which includes dense housing, light industry and a thriving night-time economy with numerous pubs, restaurants and take-aways.
• In simple terms, it takes in the area within the city’s outer ring road from Ipswich Road in the south, around to the River Wensum near Barker Street in the north, but it also incorporates Barnards Yard, Duke Street and Magdalen Street, all large parts of the city centre. It is close to the University of East Anglia, and there are a large number of students residing on the area, particularly around the Golden Triangle. Our area also includes Elm Hill, a regular attraction for tourists to the City.
• Crime is decreasing across West Centre, but challenges remain, in particular vehicle crime, damage and drug abuse. We will continue to meet these challenges by problem solving and our approach of targeting persistent offenders.
