Key Facts

  • The Sprowston and Spixworth neighbourhood is located in Broadland district, to the east of Norwich. It encompasses the areas of Sprowston, Spixworth, Old Catton and Beeston St Andrew. There are approximately 18,000 residents. Development proposals to provide many more homes by 2011 are likely to ensure that the neighbourhood and its facilities will continue to develop.
  • The supermarket chain Tesco has a superstore located on Blue Boar Lane which, along with the Pinetrees Business Park and the Sprowston Retail Park, are major employers in the area. The area is served by Sprowston High School which currently accommodates around1750 pupils.
  • While crime levels are low, youth anti-social behaviour can be a problem, especially at weekends when groups of youths congregate. The areas of Sprowston, Spixworth and Old Catton are striving to improve leisure activities for young people.

  • January 2012 - To address issues around anti-social behaviour including underage drinking in and around Sprowston Recreation Ground and at the library.
  • January 2012 - Target speeding and inconsiderate parking in Oak Lane and Spixworth Road
  • January 2012 - To address road safety issues neat to and outside schools in the neighbourhood
