Key Facts

  • The Acle neighbourhood encompasses 17 parishes around the market town of Acle in Broadland. The River Yare sets the boundary to the south, with Halvergate marshes to the east, River Bure to the north and the urban developments of Norwich to the west.
  • The Acle neighbourhood has a resident population of around 20 thousand; in addition the area attracts tens of thousands of visitors to its nature reserves, pretty villages, Broads and rivers. Agriculture provided employment opportunities as does tourism in the Broads boat hire business and supporting businesses.
  • The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads have 'National Parks' status. This means the area attracts holidaymakers from all over the world for activities such as sailing, cruising, walking, angling, bird watching and staying in holiday homes. The main holiday period is from Easter into September.

We are listening to your issues and concerns and working with our partners to improve the quality of life in your neighbourhood making you our priority. We are working hard to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and keep Acle as one of the safest places to live in the country.

    • The MELOs act as a skilled resource to officers and the public, offering assistance in dealing with hate crimes and raising awareness on a variety of issues affecting minority communities. Part of which is to liaise and work with different groups that cover the diversity strands- sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, religion, age, gender and disability.
