Safer Neighbourhood Teams deliver a truly local policing style
– local police working with local people and partners to
identify and deal with issues of concern in their
neighbourhood.
Norfolk’s model of policing aims to deliver excellent local
services where people are our priority.
Norfolk has 52 Safer Neighbourhood Teams. Each team is dedicated
to their neighbourhood and is based permanently in the
community.
Each of our Safer Neighbourhood Teams are led by a neighbourhood
Inspector, supervised by a Sergeant and made up of police officers
and police community support officers (PCSOs).
Our larger teams may also include volunteer police officers
(Special Constabulary) and Police Support Volunteers - members of
the community who give up their free time and use their skills to
support their local policing service.
All Safer Neighbourhood Teams work hand-in-hand with their
colleagues in response policing and other specialist units.
Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Police Authority aim to put the
right people in the right place and at the right time to deliver an
excellent local police service.
About Safer Neighbourhood Teams
Our Safer
Neighbourhood Teams work closely with colleagues in partner
agencies and other community organisations.
They include Government agencies, local authorities and
specialist units such as housing, trading standards and
environmental health departments, as well as independent housing
providers, health, welfare and voluntary organisations, community
and residents’ groups.
Together they work to resolve the full range of crime,
anti-social behaviour and other quality of life issues.
Collectively they are known as Safer Neighbourhood Teams,
working in partnership with the community to identify and resolve
problems.
Safer Neighbourhoods and the National Policing
Pledge
Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Police
Authority are committed to delivering the National Policing Pledge
in every neighbourhood across the county.
The national policing pledge which is supported by our own
vision, pledge and principles which outlines our promise to
you.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams work in your community to
identify and reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and the fear of
crime and to achieve the outcomes that matter most to you.
As part of our commitment to you, we provide details of your
team, where they are based, how you can contact them and what they
are doing to resolve the issues that matter to you. You can find
these details on their web page, as well as in local press and
publications or you can sign up to receive regular e-news for your
neighbourhood.
How can local communities help?
Local communities play a crucial role in keeping their
neighbourhood a safe and pleasant place to live, work and visit, by
getting involved in regular consultation and feedback with their
Safer Neighbourhood Team.
With the support of their Safer Neighbourhood Team and
partner agencies, communities can directly contribute to improving
neighbourhoods, increasing community pride, trust and
confidence.
How can I help?
You can help make your
community a safer place by contacting your Safer
Neighbourhood Team or attending one of their regular
briefings, surgeries or meetings, to let them know about any issue
that is affecting the quality of life.
You can get involved in finding a solution to the issues raised
or become part of your local policing family by working as a Police
Support Volunteer or member of the Special Constabulary.
To find out more about getting involved visit your Safer
Neighbourhood Team page in this section.
