Illegal vehicles taken off road

Three illegal vehicles travelling through West Norfolk were
taken off the road during a multi-agency roadside operation.
Other illegal motorists and those driving dangerous vehicles
were hit with fines and orders during the day-long checks on the
A47 at Walsoken on Wednesday.
Norfolk police were joined by officers from HM Revenue and
Customs and the Vehicle Operating Safety Agency (VOSA), allowing
the team to take wide-ranging action against motorists putting
themselves and other road users at risk.
The action was part of the on-going Operation Radar campaign in
Norfolk, to disrupt and identify criminals targeting rural and
vulnerable households as distraction burglars, rogue traders and
associated crime.
A/Sgt Karen Faulkner, from King’s Lynn police response, said:
“By having multi-agency roadside checks, we can take a range of
measures against prospective criminals and motorists otherwise
travelling illegally.
“This is not about targeting the law abiding motorist but
weeding out those with the potential to impact on our
communities.”
Between 9.30am and 4.30am a total of 29 vehicles were pulled
over, with offences found in every case.
- Three vehicles being drive with no insurance were seized and
removed from the road.
- Six fines were issued for various offences.
- HMRC will taken action against one motorist found driving
illegally with red diesel – a tax evasion offence.
- Seven cars, two caravans and one lorry received prohibition
notices requiring immediate repairs to defects.
- Two motorists were reported for summons to court for no
insurance and defective tyre offences.
